Baptism / Bautismo
St. John The Baptist celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism in English every Saturday at 9:00am for infants under 5 years old with the exception of the Easter vigil. St. John’s provides a Pre-Baptismal preparation class designed for parents and godparents of infants.
Parents & god parents Baptizing at our Parish, are required to take the Pre-Baptismal class and a three weekend Masses prior to have the infants Baptism. The goal of the class is to help parents to become aware of the significance of Baptism. The class also provides parents and godparents with ideas and tools for raising their Catholic family as a “domestic church”.
Pre-Baptismal class is offered every fourth Thursday of the Month at the 952 Napa St. Building a cross from the school at 7:00pm. Please download the baptism brochure or call the parish office for the information on the next class. (Note: We DO NOT offer this class in January) There is no need to pre-register. Please be on time. The instructor would ask the parents to leave the children at home.
Requirements for Baptism
God parents must be practicing Catholics in the Faith.
Once the class and the three Sunday obligation masses have been completed from parents and god parents, please bring the following to the Parish Office for the scheduling of your Baptism:
Proof that you have completed the Baptismal class and the three Sunday obligation Masses signed by the instructor & the priest or deacon.
Child’s birth certificate
If one or both of the godparents are married, they are required to be married by the Catholic Church and they need to provide a copy of their marriage certificate.
If single, he/she needs to provide an update copy of his/her Baptismal certificate.
Candidates who are civilly married or living as a couple without being married in the Catholic Church cannot be godparents.
Parents/Godparents baptizing outside of the Parish:
must attend the Baptismal Class
must complete the three Sunday obligation masses
must provide any necessary paperwork as described above.
Once all is completed please bring to the Parish Office so that the Letter of Permission can be given to take to Parish in which the Baptism will take place.
For infants 5 years and older please talk to the pastor or call the parish office for more information.

*Guide to Celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for People with Disabilities*
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church wants to ensure that the sacrament of baptism is available and accessible to people with disabilities in this Church.
The following instructions were developed for ministers and other officials participating in the sacrament of baptism in order to accommodate people with disabilities:
Anyone with a disability and/or godparents may stay downstairs where the priest or deacon will use a portable baptismal container.
The baptism will take place in front of the altar.
Parking spaces with the international symbol of access (wheelchair symbol) are assigned in the Church parking lot. Ramp access from the parking lot is available on the southeast side of the Church entrance. All doors leading to the main floor level are wheelchair accessible. There are also three bathrooms with full access for people with disabilities.

La Parroquia de San Juan celebra el Sacramento del Bautismo de los infantes menores de 5 años todos los sábados a las 10:00am en español. con excepción del sábado de gloria. La parroquia ofrece una clase pre Bautismal diseñada para papás y padrinos.
Es requerido que papás y padrinos asistan a la clase pre-bautismal y tres misas de obligación. El objetivo de la clase es ayudar a los padres y padrinos a tomar conciencia de la importancia del bautismo como un comienzo, no un fin, para un compromiso de por vida. La clase enseña el significado del Bautismo. También proporciona a los padres y padrinos ideas y herramientas para criar a su familia católica como una "iglesia doméstica".
La parroquia ofrece la clase pre Bautismal cada segundo martes del mes a las 7:00pm dentro de la Iglesia. Favor de bajar el folleto de informacion o llamar a la oficina parroquial para pedir informacion sobre la proxima fecha de la clase. (Nota: No ofrecemos está clase en el mes de enero) No es necesario registrarse para la clase. Por favor llegue a tiempo. El instructor les pide que dejen a los niños en casa.
Requisitos para Bautizo.
Los padrinos deben de ser católicos practicantes de su Fe.
Una vez que los papás y padrinos completaron los requisitos de Bautizo, por favor presente los siguientes documentos a la oficina parroquial.
Comprobante de la clase y las tres misas de fin de semana firmado por el instructor, el padre o el diacono.
Certificado de nacimiento del niño o niña.
Si uno o los dos padrinos son casados, es requerido que estén casados por la iglesia y presenten copia del certificado de matrimonio.
Certificado actualizado de Bautizo si los padrinos son solteros.
Los candidatos que están casados solo por el civil o viviendo en union libre no pueden ser padrinos.
Para Bautizar en una parroquia diferente:
En caso que usted tenga planeado Bautizar en diferente parroquia, papas y padrinos deben presentar comprobante de de la clase Pre-Bautismal en la oficina parroquial para poder obtener la carta de permiso requerida.
Para niños/as mayores de 5 años favor de hablar con Padre o llamar a la oficina parroquial para más información.
Las clases para los adultos, se imparten a travez del programa llamado, Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA). Los bautizos para adultos son en la Vigilia Pascual. *Guía para Celebrar el Sacramento del Bautismo para Personas con Discapacidades*
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church quiere asegurar que en esta Iglesia el sacramento del bautismo está disponible y accesible a las personas con discapacidades.
Las siguientes instrucciones fueron desarrolladas por ministros y otros funcionarios que participan en el sacramento del bautismo a fin de acomodar a las personas con discapacidades:
Cualquier persona con una discapacidad y/o los padrinos pueden permanecer en la planta baja donde el sacerdote o el diacono usara un recipiente bautismal portátil.
El bautismo se llevara a cabo en la planta baja enfrente del altar.
Los espacios de estacionamiento con el símbolo internacional de acceso (símbolo de silla de ruedas) están asignados en el estacionamiento de la Iglesia. Rampa de acceso desde el estacionamiento está disponible en la parte sureste de la entrada de la Iglesia. Todas las puertas que conducen al nivel del piso principal están adaptadas para personas minusválidas. También hay tres baños con acceso completo para personas discapacitadas.

First Communion / Primera Comunión
“When we receive the Real Presence of the Lord and say ‘amen’—I agree –so be it—we are in Communion with him and saying yes to living as his Body in the world—it’s a huge responsibility and a miraculous joy.”
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life and the sacrament that sustains us for the faith journey. In the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself. In the Eucharistic celebration (Mass) we unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life. The Eucharist is celebrated daily as well on weekends.
Children who are in second through six grade are eligible to register at the Catechism program to get prepare to receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time in communion with the rest of the church.

La Eucaristía es la fuente y cumbre de la vida cristiana y el sacramento que nos sostiene para el camino de la fe. En la santísima Eucaristía está contenido todo el bien espiritual de la Iglesia, es decir, Cristo mismo. En la celebración Eucarística (Misa) nos unimos a la liturgia celestial y anticipamos la vida eterna. La Eucaristía se celebra diariamente todos los fines de semana, así como también los fines de semana.
Los niños que están en segundo grado a sexto pueden ser registrados para el programa de Catecismo para prepararse para recibir el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo por primera vez en comunión con el resto de la iglesia.

Reconciliation / Reconciliación
Reconciliation, also referred to as Penance or Confession, is the sacrament in which Christ forgives sins and reconciles Christians to God and their fellow human beings. These services are available to all on Saturday afternoons from 3:30pm to 4:15pm. An appointment with a Priest directly can also be done.
In addition, a communal service is celebrated during the seasons of Advent and Lent. The sacrament may also be celebrated individually by appointment.
Preparations for children to understand and celebrate the sacrament are coordinated through the Religious Education Department.
La Reconciliación también conocida como Confesión, es el Sacramento en el que Cristo perdona los pecados y se reconcilia con Dios a sus seguidores humanos. Es celebrado los sábados de 3:30pm a 4:15pm durante el año.
Un servicio de comunión es celebrado durante las épocas de Adviento y la Cuaresma. El sacramento también puede ser celebrado individualmente haciendo una cita con el sacerdote.
La preparación para recibir el Sacramento de la Confesion para los niños del programa de Catesismo, es coordinado por el departamento de Educación Religiosa.
Confirmation / Confirmación
The Confirmation is celebrated generally once a year. The candidates are from our community and private schools. The Candidates are required to complete a one -year program under the guidance of our parish. Confirmation is open to all young adults from 7th to 12th grade and for adults.

Marriage / Matrimonio
The Sacrament of Marriage, by which a man and a woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, gives the couple the grace to love each other with the love of Christ for his Church. The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated throughout the year, except during Advent and Lent. In order to properly prepare for this sacrament, a couple must contact one of the parish priests at least six months to a year prior to the anticipated date.

El Sacramento del Matrimonio, en el cual una mujer y un hombre comparten juntos una intima relación de comunión de vida y amor, le da a la pareja la gracia de amarse con el mismo amor de Dios que El tiene para con su iglesia. El Sacramento del Matrimonio es celebrado durante todo el año, excepto durante la Cuaresma. Para que la pareja se prepare deben comunicarse con un sacerdote de la parroquia 6 meses o si se puede con un año de anticipación de la fecha en la cual desean casarse.
